Algebra Bernays University, as a higher education institution accredited to provide higher education by the competent authority, Ministry for Science and Education, strives to ensure accessibility of their websites in line with Accessibility Act of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies of Republic of Croatia (Official Gazette 17/19) from 23 September 2019, which introduces the Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European parliament and Council on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies, into the national legislation.

This Accessibility Statement refers to networks of Algebra Bernays University on the address www.algebra.hr.

Algebra Bernays University continuously works on improvement of its websites with the aim of becoming more accessible for people with fewer possibilities, with the solid belief that every person has right to a dignified, equal and independent life.

Degree compliance

www.algebra.hr websites are compliant in the greatest possible measure with Accessibility Act of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies of Republic of Croatia. Most of the requirements set by European standards EN 301 549 V1.1.2 (2015-04) are met, but with some exceptions.

On www.algebra.hr websites Accessibility Helper is available as an add-on that allows page to improve compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

By implementing Accessibility Helper add-on on the website, the following is enabled:

  • change of the letter (font) and website size is simplified, therefore ensuring simpler navigation without losing the surrounding text when increasing the font;
  • achieving good contrast in relation to the background of the whole webpage and background of all textual framework, with the option to change contrast;
  • accessibility menu is enabled;
  • accessibility menu of algebra.hr website is activated by clicking on the accessibility menu icon which appears in the right top corner of the page.

Inaccessible content

Content listed below is inaccessible in terms of general requirements for accessibility insurance because of the following reasons:

  • users are not provided with a textual alternative for non-textual content like photographs and video materials.
  • to display video content, Youtube service is used to insert videos.
  • to display such video content, an iframe method is used, which displays the content of the youtube.com page on the specified website, which does not have the same level of accessibility. Some video content does not have text subtitles.
  • Google maps is used to display interactive maps. The iframe method is used to display such maps, which shows the content of the maps.google.com page on the specified website, which does not have the same level of accessibility.
  • some photos and files do not have a suitable text description (alt text).

Increasing accessibility levels

Algebra Bernays University will implement corrective measures to resolve the problem of inaccessible content on its website to the maximum extent possible and continue to apply relevant web accessibility standards in accordance with the recommendations of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Also, in cooperation with the State School of Public Administration and experts in the application of ICT in the everyday life of people with disabilities, it trains its employees to create, manage and maintain website content for mobile devices in accordance with the Accessibility Act.

Preparation of this Accessibility Statement

This Statement was prepared on June 27, 2022, in accordance with the Accessibility Statement Template in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and the Council on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies, as established by Commission Implementing Decision EU 2018/1523 of October 11, 2018.

A self-assessment method was used to prepare this Statement.
