It was challenging but we made it! Our first ever online version of Summer School took place this year from July 5th to 24th, with a course in Artificial Intelligence and the workshop in the Croatian Language and Culture. And it was such fun!
Online programs are in high demand due to the current pandemic but students still want to get the best out of their summer! Therefore, we prepared a course that is 100% online and interactive. This way, our students were able to meet participants from all over the world spending 3 weeks in a virtual classroom learning new skills and earning credits. It’s essential to be socially distant these days, but even though this program is distant, it doesn’t lack the social component!
Some of our students were kind enough to send us their selfies while attending lessons and we thank them truly for their effort! Here’s what they say:
Christine Almaden
- I am very grateful that I have enrolled in the Croatian language and AI course. I have learned so much. Petra and Boris are amazing teachers and I wish I am sitting in front of them personally. The online course is fun and thanks a lot to my teachers. Every lesson each day makes me crave to visit Croatia very soon when everything is lifted up from Covid. My Croatian language makes me hungry every morning. I’m very much excited to taste the delicious specialty of Croatia, especially the sea foods. I can’t wait to see its historical places. To my AI course, I am very much grateful because this course educates me and teaches me so much more about technologies I did not know yet. This course challenges me every single day and pushes my limitations which makes it very interesting.

- Little does Boris know he has 2 little students listening in everyday! I don’t have much of a set up but I enjoy waking up with a cup of tea, cat snuggles and a great lecture with Boris and all the other students! It’s definitely been a highlight every morning!
Sharmaine Escalaw
- Learning at home and learning at campus may be different but we all have the same burning passion to appease our curiosity into the fields we’re into. It is a privilege to fill my knowledge bag with the skills of AI and the beautiful culture of Croatia with the help of the vibrant lecturers and team, who are masters of their crafts. The class experiences are interactive and fun! If I were to visit Croatia, I would spend my free time discovering local cafes in the afternoon and visiting the tourist attractions. I reserve this desire to travel when it’s safe to do so. Cheers!
We would like to thank all students for choosing Algebra this summer, and hope to host them in person so we can continue creating a digital future together while exploring the beauties of Croatian culture, language and, of course, the Croatian cuisine.
