About the module

The main purpose and aim of the module is a proper and thorough introduction to selected topics in the field of management and entrepreneurship designed and tailored for the IT sector. In this module you will explore some of the main facets of management for IT engineers, as related to ethics and formation of individual ethical judgment, corporate social responsibility, multicultural communication and entrepreneurship. A solid knowledge base in this field is valued by employers, many of whom have an appreciation for the broader impacts that software and hardware can have on society and communities. Thus, topics covered represent a valuable skillset for any information technology professional.

In this module, you will learn how individual ethical judgment is formed based on the framework of institutional and individual facets, how to mitigate ethical risks, incorporate social responsibility into your management thinking and improve your decision-making, understand communication issues related to working with different nations and build cross-cultural competences, as well as how to develop an idea and structure a business plan to be able to start an entrepreneurial endeavor in IT.

Lecturer

Ratka Jurković has been in the entrepreneurial waters for more than 20 years. Ratka’s expertise lies in the area of “soft” management skills (the art of decision-making in organizations, leadership, employee motivation, teamwork and group dynamics). Ratka works as an expert on international and local projects, performs “train the trainers” programs and individual coaching for managers and entrepreneurs. Ratka is holds lectures at Croatian and international universities and business schools in the field of business ethics, economics, leadership, management and multicultural communications. She authored and co-authored several books and handbooks in the field of entrepreneurship, management, decision-making and communication.

Renata Ćurković graduated from the Faculty of Economics & Business at the University of Zagreb. She has many years of experience working in the field of education. Renata works as an independent trainer, coach and mentor in Croatia and abroad in the field of personal development, management and entrepreneurship skills as well as quality management in the business and public sector. Renata has many years of experience in the preparation and implementation of projects co-financed from EU funds. She is a certified master practitioner of NLP at the International Network for Humanistic NLP (USA) and executive coach at the Academy of Executive Coaching (UK).
