Algebra University College is dedicated to reaching out and sustaining the highest national and international quality standards in higher education. We regularly perform and thoroughly examine assessments of all our program and institutional accreditation prerequisites as well as the update of the standard quality assurance certifications. Quality assurance and efficiency of teaching at Algebra University College is inevitable to ensure long-term prosperity of the institution. In this sense, ten years of experience have been applied in promotion and implementation of the Algebra University College quality assurance system in education and incorporated into the strategic objectives of the institution.
Program Accreditation
Ministry of Science and Education
On July 30, 2015, Algebra University College has submitted an initial ‘e-Leadership MBA concept study’ to the Ministry of science, education and sports. An independent expert committee nominated by ASHE Accreditation Council has successfully evaluated AUC documented institutional prerequisites, program content and other required legal and organizational conditions by January 26, 2016. On May 25, 2016, Algebra University College has received accreditation recommendation letter from the Agency for Science and Higher Eduqcation (ASHE). The final accreditation for the professional master degree study program ‘e-Leadership MBA’ was issued by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia on May 30, 2016.
Association of MBAs (AMBA)
Building on traditions of IgBS International MBA since 2003, seven generations of IgBS MBA students and its growing Alumni Community, Algebra University College has applied for the membership and accreditation of the IgBS e-Leadership MBA program within the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
Institutional Accreditation
Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE)
Algebra University College has received initial institutional accreditation in 2008 and completed its re-accreditation procedure managed by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE) in July 2012. Re-accreditation procedure is carried out every five years in accordance with Article 22 of the Act on Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education as to obtain detailed insight in the quality of work of higher education institutions and determine whether an institution meets the criteria for the extension of its license for performing higher education activity. This way, the Agency for Science and Higher Education protects the public interest and ensures that accredited higher education is conducted only by institutions that meet the required criteria of quality. Algebra University College has been evaluated with excellent marks and positive accreditation recommendation, and currently is rated as the best evaluated professional study program in the Republic of Croatia. Netherlands – Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie (NVAO)
In 2010 Algebra University College has successfully passed on through the institutional accreditation process managed by the NVAO (Netherlands – Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie), Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders. This was the first external audit of an internal quality assurance system carried out in a Croatian higher education institution. It has been done through international cooperation between three Croatian higher education institutions with support of the Council of Universities and University Colleges of Applied Science and the Agency for Science and Higher Education. The accreditation process was carried out within the frames of an international pilot project and in accordance with the rules of the accreditation agency NVAO and European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). Since then, Algebra University College is the only Croatian institution compliant to the demanding higher education quality standards of one of the leading European accreditation agencies. Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER)
Algebra University College is the only professional institution in the Republic of Croatia that has been ‘Approved by FER’, the status given by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb (FER). This status was obtained as a result of the evaluation of the institutional documentation, curriculum, educational plans and other relevant components of the study program. The evaluation process has been carried out by the most eminent experts in the field of computer engineering in the region. Through this procedure, the Algebra University College needed to demonstrate to FER that its curriculum was designed and implemented well enough not only to meet the needs of employers, but also to satisfy the high demands of this premium scientific and educational institution. The first status evaluation dated back in 2009, and it has been successfully confirmed and maintained through quality re-evaluations in 2011 and 2013.
Quality Assurance
Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG)
The Algebra University College has received an ESG certificate from the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE) in September 2012. The Croatian legal framework stipulates the implementation of such external audits in each accredited institution once every five years. QA audit of a higher education institution is a systematic, periodic procedure which ascertains whether activities and results of the activities that make up the system of quality assurance of a higher education institution are efficient and in compliance with national standards and ESG. Audit also serves to evaluate contribution to continuous improvement of the quality culture, culture of education and development of the quality assurance system improves all activities, especially education. Algebra University College successfully underwent this independent and external audit with the highest results making it the first private institution within the Croatian education system that has been awarded this type of certificate. In addition, this certificate confirmed that all educational activities conducted by Algebra University College are in accordance with quality and standards applied in similar university colleges in the European Union.
Microsoft Learning Partner of the Year 2014
In 2014, Algebra has achieved one of the greatest successes in its 16 years of existence. Algebra was proclaimed the world’s best Microsoft Learning Partner in the competition of 3,200 organizations that have nominated their projects and achievements for the Partner of the Year Award. The award was presented to Algebra by Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president of Microsoft, at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Washington, US. In each category, including the category of education, Microsoft awards only one such award per year and the success was even greater because this was the first time that the award in this category went to one of the smallest countries.
The Algebra group which consists of Algebra Open University and Algebra University College was the winner in the category “Learning” as part of Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards 2014.
