Robert Kopal is currently the State Secretary of the Croatian Ministry of the Interior.
He has earned a PhD in Economics, branch of International Economics, at the Faculty of Economics, University of Rijeka. He acts as a Research Associate and Assistant Professor, tenured University College Professor, Lecturer and Visiting Lecturer at numerous University Colleges in Croatia and abroad. Previously he served as Dean at the University College EFFECTUS and the Vice Dean for Research and Development and Head of the professional master study program of Digital Marketing at the Algebra University College. He has also been R&D and Science Advisor to IN2 Group Board of Directors and a lecturer of the EduCare program at CROMA (Croatian Manager Association).
Robert is a former Chief Intelligence Analyst at the Croatian Ministry of the Interior and former Senior Manager at the Croatian Security Intelligence Agency. He has headed and lectured at over a hundred business and analytical workshops in Croatia and abroad, trained specialists from 11 countries and designed several specialized information systems. He is certified intelligence analysis trainer in the field of analytical techniques and SW, Member of SCIP (Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals), IALEIA (International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts) and BDVA (Big Data Value Association). He was a speaker and participant at numerous domestic and foreign conferences. He was also a head, PIU and Key Expert of over a dozen national and international analytical projects like “CARDS Twinning project”, “Criminal Intelligence System (phase 1&2)”, PLO at UNODC project “Strengthening of Capacities for Collection and Analysis of Criminal Intelligence in South-eastern Europe”, etc. He is a member of the National HR Development Council and he was member of the national team for the European Big Data Hackathon 2017. (Croatian team was a winner).
Robert Kopal is also Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Digital Technology and Economy and the member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Economics & Management Sciences. He has published ten books in Croatia and abroad (Economic Analysis of International Terrorism, Game Theory, Competitive Analysis Techniques, etc) and is author of a number of chapters in books and of about fifty professional and science papers. His latest book (Social) Network Analysis: Application was published in April 2016. He is currently working on his new book National Security – Data Science Approach.
