I have been in the marketing & events industry for about ten years now, during which I have worked on many different projects. My self-assessment before e-Leadership MBA scholarship day was high – I’m very familiar with the market, business topics and very up to date with the information.

At e-Leadership MBA scholarship day, I have realized that I overestimated myself. It reminded me how important education is and that you cannot get enough of knowledge and experiences.

60 finalists were invited to the Scolarship Finals – all of us with different professional backgrounds and from the various industries. Our task was to cover & present a topic I did not had knowledge of at all. I found myself in a completely unfamiliar environment, presenting about unfamiliar topic while jury was rating every step of it. I was sure this was not my best performance, but that moment made me realize that I have so much more to learn.

On the other hand, feedback from the jury about my performance was very positive. I managed to use my event production and team management skills while solving assigned tasks. Jury recognized it as a leadership skill and I was selected as one of five scholarship winners.

e-Leadership MBA gets you out of your comfort zone and makes you work on projects you may not be familiar with. This broadens your perspective, makes you aware of so many business fields that exist out there. For example, for me Quantitative methods were very challenging module but I am glad that I pass through it and to become familiar with how big systems work.

Since I came from an agency background, I was worried if the topics would be too corporate. Although sometimes they are, I managed to find useful & interesting things I can use in my agency. Moreover, the skills which agency people have (working on the business front line) have proven to be very useful in teamwork.

MBA pushes you to develop your own projects with Algebra’s support and guidance. Professional help and guidance is ensured from both Algebra and Indiana University side. Algebra offers modern approach to education, communication and plenty of up-to-date information from the world of business and innovation.

When deciding about actually enrolling into MBA study my biggest worry was time. Would I be able to set aside already booked weekends?  It is all about priorities. The modules are nicely distributed throughout the year with enough breaks between each of them.

The lectures at Algebra manage to successfully combine professional culture of Indiana University professors with Croatian relaxed and homey atmosphere. The number of students is not too big, the teams are small and personalized approach to all students is maintained. Feedback is appreciated and all constructive criticisms are considered.

It is good to be back at educational system. Although I am the younger member of this MBA generation, my advice to all interested parties is to gather a minimum of 5-6 years of business industry experience before enrolling to MBA. That way you will be better equipped to compare things already learned with newest business practices and trends.

To conclude, I would like to use this opportunity to make a special call to the women to apply because with MBA you grow in knowledge as well as in self – esteem.
