Ema Menđušić Škugor is a partner in Divjak Topić Bahtijarević & Krka Law Firm and heads its Commercial Law and Regulated Industries Law teams.

As an experienced corporate lawyer well-versed in a broad range of legal issues relevant to commercial and company law, Ema advises some of the most notable corporations in Croatia. She acts as a Key Account Manager for her law firm’s largest clients such as Heineken, Google, Japan Tobacco International, Roche and others. Her thorough understanding of the legal framework and internal corporate processes enables her to effectively advise clients with respect to their daily needs. In addition, Ema is actively involved in complex transactions and project tasks. In the early stages of her career, her knowledge of the EU law compelled her to engage in advising clients operating in a variety of regulated industries.

Continuous effort in her professional line of work is recognized by the fact that Ema was recently named as “one of the best in the market for corporate law” by The Legal500 Europe Directory, one of the most important independent legal directories in the world. She is currently ranked as “Next Generation Partner” in the Corporate, commercial and M&A category for Croatia.

Ema also actively participates in shaping applicable local legislation and regulations. Her most notable policy work is in the public procurement practice area, where she engaged in the work of the Public Procurement Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia and served two terms as Committee Vice-chair.

In 2021 Ema confirmed her expert status with a PhD in Corporate and Commercial Law from the Zagreb Legal Faculty, joining only small percentage of practicing lawyers in Croatia holding a PhD. Her doctoral thesis, titled "The Provision of Legal Assistance as a Contractual Relationship Between Attorney and Client" is the first major scientific contribution in that area.

She frequently publishes articles and holds expert lectures on various areas of expertise, including engaging in pro bono projects with the aim of bringing legal practice and theory closer together.
