Academic Recognition Procedure

All international students who have not completed their secondary education in Croatia need to undergo the Academic recognition procedure to verify they’re eligible for university studies. In most cases, if a student can enter university in their home country with their high school diploma, the same applies to Croatia.

The procedure of recognition of foreign high school qualifications is run by the Agency for Science and Higher Education, Central Applications Office (a Croatian government appointed body).

To facilitate this procedure, students must register on the national level system Postani-student.hr and send certified copies of the following documents by post:

  1. A certified copy of your passport (pages with personal details)
  2. A certified copy of your final high school diploma if issued in English*
  3. A certified copy of your last four-year report cards if issued in English*

Public notary is the legal person who can make certified copies.

If your high school certificates are not issued in English originally, you will need to translate the certificates to English. The translations need to be done by a certified court interpreter for English language and you will then send these translations alongside the certified passport copy.

If your high school education lasted three years, apart from transcripts of grades from those last three years, you need to send the transcript of grades from your last grade of primary school (or lower/junior secondary).

You can see on this list which documents need to be sent: https://www.studij.hr/recognition

If your country is not on the list, kindly contact us and we will provide further information.

There are two periods in which the documents can be submitted, and students enrolled through the national level system:
