After Algebra University organized a bootcamp with the prestigious MIT this June, another commendable partnership has been established—this time overseas. The University of South Florida (USF), in partnership with Algebra University, has been awarded the “IDEAS” grant. This grant, funded by the U.S. Department of State, enables American educational institutions to create and expand study programs. These study abroad opportunities provide unique international experiences and equip American students with new skills. This year, Algebra University launched an undergraduate program in Cyber Security, positioning its experts as key advisors to USF in establishing a new academic branch focused on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

This prestigious grant, funded by the U.S. Department of State, supports the deepening of Croatian-American partnerships by establishing study abroad programs. These programs emphasize cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and computer engineering.

Wendy Baker, representative of the University of South Florida, highlighted the connection between Croatia and the U.S. through this collaboration. She emphasized that increasing the number of American students with international experience is part of their investment in equipping future U.S. leaders with critical skills in fields like global health, technology, and innovation.

Antonija Gladović, Director of the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes, congratulated both institutions on their newly established collaboration. She stressed the importance of the study abroad programs in connecting international students with Croatian universities.

Mislav Balković, Rector of Algebra University, emphasized past successful projects in his speech, such as hosting the first-ever MIT Innovation Leadership Bootcamp in Europe. He noted that Algebra University received the highest ratings in four key criteria during reaccreditation by the Agency for Science and Higher Education, which is conducted every five years. These achievements have significantly contributed to Algebra’s growing international recognition.

Summer School

The partnership with Algebra will provide US students with the chance to enhance their knowledge of computer science by participating in Algebra International Summer School, a four-week program.
