Valon Nue is a second year Bachelor-level student of Software Engineering at Algebra University coming from Kosovo.

I chose to study in Croatia after hearing about all the opportunities in the IT development career sector and how welcoming the people are. My experience so far is very good. Our Croatian friends communicate in English with each other, so we don’t feel left out. Professors are always ready to help us with anything needed related to their course. I thought I would have a difficult time passing my exams since I wasn’t going to be doing my studies in my native language but that wasn’t the case at all. Professors do a really good job at explaining the course making it easier for us to understand the concepts of it.

Since I am in my second year of studies it is not very easy to find a job related to my field as I don’t have the experience nor the knowledge needed but hopefully starting from next year my search will be easier. In regards to staying after finishing my studies, my decision will depend on career opportunities related to my field here in Croatia.

Cost of living is a little more expensive than what I was used to, but with a little bit of saving and being careful on expenses we are managing to get through. Croatia is a main attraction to many tourists so you see a lot of different races and cultures and locals are very friendly which makes us enjoy our stay here as foreigners. Apart from easily making friends, I enjoy the culture, nature and the architecture in Croatia.
