The research group studies engineering principles, methods, infrastructures and tools for distributed and mobile software systems, which are often large and complex.

The research areas of focus include: devising real objectives for such systems, the quality of services they provide and the constraints on such systems; precise specification of the structure and behaviour of the systems and their development according to defined specifications; activities necessary to develop quality management systems during system development; the evolution of such systems over time and through advancements in technology on which the systems are based. Additionally, it deals with processes, methods and tools for the economical and appropriate development of software-intensive systems.
