Digital technologies and data science are recognised as catalysts in the process of improving healthcare by transforming the way health and diseases are analysed and how diagnostics will be planned in the future.
The applications of digital health include the use of a variety of methods from the field of data science as well as the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms for medical purposes and analyses in public health, all aimed at better tracking procedures in activities and decision-making. As is often the case with technological progress, advances in digital health bring significant ethical, legal and social implications.
The research group aims to identify points of intersection between computing and informatics on the one hand and biomedicine and healthcare on the other, and to define possible solutions and analyse the potential synergies between these areas.
