Module title:

Drawing 3 - Art structures

Module overview:

The objective of this module is to enable students to learn to:
• understand complex drawing techniques and the development of key factors that define perception and practical skills of drawing
• use theoretical knowledge on complex elements of visual culture and practical improvement of analytical thinking in drawing processes

This module teaches students to create through practical work, the techniques and methods which will ensure the optimal quality of their drawing skills necessary for their design practices. This will be achieved by a gradual approach in understanding, analysing, and defining each personal drawing process, with a specific focus on developing specific personal interests and execution exercises with strictly set deadlines of the practical performance. Drawing techniques will include a recreation of very complex forms, motifs, and solving art problems such as imaginary light. The emphasis will be placed on light and colour. The tasks will consist of drawing various motifs as well as a couple of conceptual assignments where the students will research and find their own motifs based on their specific individual preferences and the assignment at hand. Independently chosen motifs will be recreated as a drawing elaboration of very complex forms of various materials, light and colour content.

The module is based on various thematical units. The main goal is to offer a wide range of various tasks through which students can develop their perception and transform their observation into precise drawings. The workflow of this module will combine personal and group progresses. During the module, the students will have to produce between 40-60 studious drawings. Every new assignment will be formed as a continuation of the previous one. Along with practical work, students will have to elaborate and analyse their own practice, as well as the work of others.
