Business software tools

Module overview:

The objective of this module is to enable students to learn to:
• use and customize the programme to work with e-mail for communication and organization.
• create presentations by following the guidelines of good practice
• form and manage documents using a word processor
• use tools, functions and formulas of a spreadsheet program for the purpose of designing tables and calculating data

This module builds upon previous experiences and learning ie. secondary schooling etc. to enable the independent use of software tools.

In this module students will learn:
• the concepts of online communications and e-mail: sending, receiving and managing e-mail settings, organising and searching e-mails
• using calendars and meeting options.
• how to use presentation software to create and edit presentations for the target audience, venue and purpose.
• the use of word processing applications to create, edit, and output everyday documents
• how to edit and refine numerical, textual and graphic data, and sort, connect and extract the necessary data.
• the advanced knowledge and skills to edit and present data in graphs,
• use functions related to logical, statistical and mathematical operations, as well as using available tools for revision and control.

It is important for students to take this module because the use of technology is becoming increasingly embedded in a growing number of daily activities. Digital competence achieved through this module are not only key competence in today's society but it also enables the development of other competencies that are not ICT-related ie. analysis/problem solving, creativity, communication, presentation. Through achieving these knowledges, understandings and skills students can contribute to achieving goals in the most efficient and productive way in their future employment as IT specialists or as digital marketing specialist.
