Module title:
Drawing 1 - Drawing techniques
Module overview:
The objective of this module is to enable students to learn to:
• understand basic drawing techniques and the development of key factors that define analytical perception and practical skills of drawing
• use theoretical knowledge on basic elements of visual culture and practical improvement of analytical thinking in drawing processes
This module teaches students to create through practical work, the techniques and methods which will ensure the optimal quality of their drawing skills necessary for their design practices. This will be achieved by a gradual approach in understanding, analysing, and utilizing a drawing process based on analytical observation, starting by creating linear constructs and creating structural linear drawings, to adopting complex visual measuring and scaling techniques, and finally being able to create precise drawings with exact proportions. Art problems will include portraits, nudes, figures, animals, compositions and landscapes worked on perceptively and receptively.
It is important for students to take this module to offer a wide range of various tasks through which students can develop their perception and transform their observation into precise drawings. The workflow of this module will combine personal and group progresses. Every new assignment will be formed as a continuation of the previous one. Along with practical work, students will have to elaborate and analyse their own practice, as well as the work of others.
