Visual design 1 - Basic elements and principles


Module overview:


The objective of this module is to enable students to:
• gain knowledge of basic elements and principles of visual design
• acquire a set of certain graphic/art methods and skills necessary for process of visual design

This module teaches students for the following modules in visual design, in such a way that, with the help of the knowledge acquired in this module, they will be able to perform future design tasks more skilfully and with better quality. In this module students will have to design and create abstract graphic compositions and in that sense this module also encourages a certain creative thinking. The module forms vital core of the program as it combines fundamental design rules, form, structure, and composition.

It is important for students to take this module in order to understand the basic logic behind process of thinking and creating visual design, as well this module will contribute to the overall development of students to become professional visual designers, in particular graphic designers. Students will gain confidence in thinking, creating, and performing further design tasks and expose students to the basics of visual design.
