Module title:
Introduction to digital photography
Module overview:
This module introduces students to the basics of visual storytelling through photographic media, from communication to atmosphere.
The module is taught through the integration of theory, knowledge and experience as well as individual practical learning and problem solving. The module check is based on analysis and critical review of given examples, individual student projects, homework with an individual approach and an oral exam. The individual student project is based on an individual practical approach to visual storytelling, exclusively through photography to strengthen media expression and creativity.
This module is part of a group of media-related modules within the course, actively taking students through visual creation, storytelling, and creative thinking. The skills learned in this module will significantly contribute to other future media-related modules.
Students will learn about:
• different genres of photography and their application and use
• technical aspects of photography
• data formats and correlation with photo manipulation and alteration
• correlation of lighting with visual storytelling
• exposure control in all conditions
• composition and focus
• the effect of controlled and uncontrolled environmental conditions.
