Basics of business communication


Module overview:


The objective of this module is to enable students to learn:
- Forms of crisis communication.
- Organizing meetings.
- Business negotiations.
- To develop models of intercultural communication.
- To synthesize verbal and non-verbal communication in a meaningful whole.
Students learn how to evaluate various forms of speech, design different types of written communication, present different views and contents, and conduct successful team communication. This module enables students to effectively present arguments in business meetings, but also to recommend models of verbal and non-verbal communication to negotiating teams and people who are in direct contact with their own staff or clients on a daily basis.
It is important for students to take this module to be able to learn how to argue their opinions through various forms (ways) of communication. Students will use this knowledge and understanding to validly and critically judge written business content and create other successful ways of business communication. This will empower students to defend their views in business negotiations and avoid conflict situations. This will contribute to the overall skillset for their future employment.
In this module students will learn:
basics of effective business communication as a factor of progress and success.
planning, writing and concluding the writing of business messages (general guidelines).
planning, writing and concluding of routine and positive messages.
planning, writing and concluding of negative messages.
planning, writing and concluding of persuasive messages (e.g. emotional and logical appeals, marketing sales messages).
planning, writing and completing of reports and proposals.
shaping of messages for electronic media.
designing visual communication.
searching, evaluating and processing information necessary for successful communication and conducting negotiation processes.
basics of team and interpersonal communication.
overcoming conflicts.
effective management of meetings.
basics of negotiations and negotiations.
overcoming communication challenges in a world of diversity (intercultural communication).
basics of crisis communication.
basics of oral and online presentations.
the basics of career building and writing resumes, job applications and business interviews.
