Module title:
Routing and switching in computer networks
Lecturers and associates:
Module overview:
This comprehensive course focus on design and implementation of technical solutions based on routing and switching technologies in campus network environments, equipping students with the skills required to create robust, efficient, and redundant network infrastructures. Students will gain hands-on experience in segmenting networks logically, devising routing solutions, ensuring network redundancy, and thoroughly documenting network infrastructure. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, students will learn how to design and implement various technical solutions for switching, routing and redundancy in the campus network environment using switches and routers.
This course is ideal for network engineers, cybersecurity experts, IT professionals, system administrators, and anyone looking to enhance their expertise in designing, implementing, and documenting computer networks based on switches and routers in campus environments.
In this course students will learn:
Design a technical solution that will ensure logical segmentation, redundancy in the network and routing of traffic in the network based on given requirements
Appropriately use technologies for logical segmentation of the computer network such as VLANs and routing between VLANs on switches and routers
Appropriately use technologies for exchanging information about routes in the network such as static routes, RIP, EIGRP and OSPF protocols
Appropriately use technologies and methods for ensuring redundancy in the computer network, such as VRRP and HSRP mechanisms, and floating and summary paths
Use and create network documentation from existing configuration and network discovery processes
