Module title:
Advanced administration of open source operating systems
Lecturers and associates:
Module overview:
The aim of the course is to deepen students´ knowledge and skills in managing open operating systems with an emphasis on practical and security aspects. The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of regular expressions and their application in system administration tasks. It aims to develop students´ capabilities in proposing and implementing security systems within open operating systems. The course will enable students to distinguish and manage processes, modules, and the kernel of open operating systems, enhancing their technical proficiency.
Additionally, the course will focus on network availability options, equipping students with the skills to determine the best network configurations for various scenarios. Students will also gain expertise in supporting and critically evaluating storage system configurations, ensuring optimal performance and security. The course will cover the configuration and administration of network services, providing students with the ability to suggest and evaluate various network service configurations. Furthermore, students will learn to assess and explain database configurations and administration within open operating systems, preparing them to handle complex database management scenarios effectively.
In this course students will learn:
to explain the use of regular expressions for tasks in the administration of open operating systems.
to propose the implementation of security systems in open operating systems.
to differentiate and manage processes, how they are initiated, modules, and the system kernel in open operating systems.
to select and determine network availability options.
to provide support for and critically assess the configuration of storage systems.
to provide support for and propose options for network service configuration.
to evaluate and explain the configuration and administration of databases in open operating systems.
