Module title:
Research and development of multimedia content
Module overview:
This module introduces students to the fundamentals multimedia research, analysis and critical thinking.
Students will learn about:
• Multimedia theories, concepts, integration, augmentation, and practices.
• Multimedia components – understanding fundamentals, growth, and future change.
• Multimedia expectations – interaction and interactivity, expectations, and innovation.
• Research dilemma – finding the right topic/problem.
• Meaning of relevant, interesting, instructive, original, doable, and motivating.
• Learning to research, conceptualise, methodologies and data collection.
• Writing a paper – introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion.
The module is taught through integration of theory while highly focused on individual practical learning, critical thinking and problem solving. The module assessment is based on analysis and critical review of past and present research or real-life examples providing correlation to student projects, and on a presentation. Individual student project is based on an individual research in one of two given forms.
This module is a part of the media core of the study, actively taking students through research and multimedia improvement and problem solving with an in-depth focus and attention to detail. Skills learnt in this module will contribute significantly to other subsequent media core modules.
