Module title:
Remote sensing practicum
Lecturers and associates:
Module overview:
This elective module introduces students to advanced methods of practical work using remote sensing data. Through the module, students will get to know the different program components used in the development of applications based on remote sensing. Emphasis is placed on practical applications and, as the main result of the work, students will have the opportunity to create their own solution. The main objectives of the module are:
Become familiar with different program components for the needs of data analysis of remote sensing.
Become familiar with different tools and approaches for the implementation of spatial data in the programming environment.
Become familiar with the methods of preparing and storing spatial data for use within the development environment.
Become familiar with the visualization methods of stored spatial data.
Become familiar with the methods of creating functions based on spatial data.
Become familiar with the methods of creating an interactive UI/UX based on the use of spatial data and map displays.
The module requires previous experience in programming and knowledge of the subject of remote sensing in an expanded form. It is taught in selected software packages and selected development environments with the purpose of gaining practical experience. The evaluation of the module is based on the practical creation of the project assignment.
In this module students will learn:
how to identify and integrate end user needs using spatial data.
what type of operations need to be performed to make the collected spatial data suitable for use.
how to properly store and access stored spatial data.
what relations and relationships need to be established in the system architecture for the spatial data to be correctly displayed on the interface.
how to customize spatial data for display on the UI/UX.
