Module title:
Introduction to digital photography
Module overview:
This course introduces students to the basics of visual storytelling through photographic media, from communication to atmosphere. The course is taught through the integration of theory, knowledge, and experience, as well as individual practical learning and problem-solving.
Course assessment is based on the analysis and critical review of given examples, individual student projects, assignments with an individual approach, and an oral exam. The individual student project is based on an individual practical approach to visual storytelling, exclusively through photography, to enhance media expression and creativity.
This course is part of a group of courses related to media studies, actively guiding students through visual creation, storytelling, and creative thinking. The skills learned in this course will significantly contribute to other future courses related to the field of media.
In this course students will learn:
different genres of photography and their application and use
technical aspects of photography
data formats and their correlation with photo manipulation and editing
the correlation between lighting and visual storytelling
exposure control in various conditions
composition and focus
the effect of controlled and uncontrolled environmental conditions.
