Introduction to video production

Module overview:
Course aim is to familiarize students with the basics of visual storytelling through video media, covering communication, atmosphere, and aesthetics within the language of film and commercial video.
The course is taught through the integration of theory, knowledge, and individual practical learning and problem-solving. Course assessment is based on the analysis and critical review of assigned examples during exams, individual student projects, and homework assignments with an individual approach.
The individual student project is based on a practical approach and requires students to create and write a script, storyboard, and raw footage ready for editing.
This course is part of the media core of the study, actively guiding students through key elements of video production from concept to shot planning and actual filming.
In this course students will learn:
- about the language of film and basic cinematographic approaches.
- about traditional and modern production methods.
- to independently create and produce their own works.
- to establish basic prerequisites for film and video production.
- about video aesthetics and structure.
- the fundamentals of shooting,
- about lighting and dramaturgical structure.
- the basics of film editing and colour correction of projects.
