Module title:
Creation and postproduction of digital images and graphics
Lecturers and associates:
Module overview:
The goal of this course is to enable students to:
create, process, and use digital graphics
integrate digital graphics and optimize them for specific purposes
create, process, and use digital images
engage in visual storytelling through the manipulation of photographic media, raster images, and vector graphics create visual changes, alter messages, atmosphere, and mood during production and processing
The course is taught through the integration of research, practical knowledge, and individual practical learning and problem-solving. The assessment of the course is based on practical analysis and critical reflection in the form of solutions based on skills within given examples, individual student projects, and homework assignments with an individual approach. Individual student projects are based on an individual practical approach to visual storytelling exclusively through the process of photo manipulation, post-processing, and desired changes in visual communication.
This course is part of a group of courses related to media within the study program, actively guiding students through graphic creation and manipulation of raster image data (photographic or computer-generated images). The skills learned in this course will significantly contribute to other future courses related to the field of media.
In this course students will learn:
the processes and fundamentals of image manipulation
data formats and the impact of bit depth on post-production and photo manipulation
photoforensics and the challenges it presents
destructive and non-destructive processing of raster images
flexible workflow routines in image processing
creating vector graphics and integrating images
optimizing, using, and performance tuning of raster images according to purpose
