Module overview:
The objective of this module is to enable students to learn to:
- use and customize the programme to work with e-mail for communication and organization
- form and manage documents using a word processor
- create presentations by following the guidelines of good practice
- create documents and presentations respecting the guidelines of visual standards
- use basic tools, functions and formulas of a spreadsheet program for the purpose of designing tables and calculating data
This module builds upon previous experiences and learning ie. secondary schooling etc. to enable the independent use of software tools.
It is important for students to take this module because the use of technology is becoming increasingly embedded in a growing number of daily activities. Digital competence achieved through this module are not only key competence in today´s society but it also enables the development of other competencies that are not ICT-related ie. analysis/problem solving, creativity, communication, presentation. Through achieving these knowledges, understandings and skills students can contribute to achieving goals in the most efficient and productive way in their future employment as designers.
In this module students will learn:
use online storage solutions for data storage
concepts of network communication and email: sending, receiving, and managing email settings, organizing, and searching email messages
use the calendar and meeting organization features in email programs
use video conferencing systems
use word processing software to create, format, and store everyday documents
use presentation software for creating and formatting presentations for a specific audience, venue, and purpose
format and clean numerical, textual, and graphic data, and sort, link, and store necessary data
edit and present data in a graphical format at an advanced level
use basic functions related to mathematical operations, as well as available tools for viewing and managing data
use built-in AI tools with the aim of increasing productivity, creativity and developing critical thinking.
