Illustration in visual communication

Module overview:
In this module, students will gain insight into what illustration is, why and how to apply it properly, and what its role is in visual communication. By studying typical and other examples (historical and contemporary), as well as practical work on exercises and individual project tasks, they will learn certain characteristics for each of the individual types and gain knowledge and skills necessary for creating, designing and applying illustrations in signage design, data visualization and information visualization.
Along with practical knowledge and skills, this module will provide students with a broader insight into illustration as part of visual communication. This module will help students to use illustrations more often to convey ideas and informations in different areas of graphic design.
In this module students will learn:
gain knowledge and skills to create and design different types of illustrations, in accordance with a specific task and purpose, from the areas of signage design, data visualization and information visualization
gain knowledge of using illustration in visual communication
enhance the knowledge and illustration skills they have acquired in digital illustration courses
