The goals of this course are to enable students to acquire knowledge about:
principles and role of critical thinking
evaluation and analysis of arguments
evaluate the authenticity of information sources
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the basic principles of logic and understanding. The course focuses on developing critical thinking skills, including analysis, evaluation and argument development. Topics to be covered include the history of critical thinking, informal logic, deductive logic, inductive logic, argument analysis, logical fallacies, categorical logic, natural deduction, causality, Bayesian probability theory, and scientific reasoning. The course includes a critical evaluation of different perspectives and teaches students how to assess the credibility of information sources and how to form their own conclusions.
It is important for students to attend this course in order to improve their own abilities and skills in critical thinking about different topics. The course introduces students to the development of skills for making informed and logically based decisions. Students will learn how to recognize and avoid common errors in reasoning, which is essential for various aspects of academic and professional life. Furthermore, developing critical thinking enables students to better evaluate facts and make practical decisions, increasing their ability to effectively solve problems and think creatively. This course prepares students for more advanced courses in the continuation of the program, but also for designing and creating the final paper in the last semester.
