Module title:
Creativity and critical thinking
Module overview:
The objective of this module is to enable students to:
• apply creative analytical techniques aimed at raising the level of their creativity and innovation in business environment
• apply basic concepts of critical thinking and logical reasoning aimed at reducing the impact of irrational and subjective reasoning, biases, fallacies, and heuristics in making inferences and business decisions.
This module teaches students to clarify concepts and ideas, seek possibilities, consider alternatives and solve problems. Apart from generating a pool of innovative ideas, creative analytical techniques help students solve business problems in a new and constructive way.
The module is designed to aid students in understanding the essential principles involved in the practice of reasoned decision making and to impart a functional ability for applying creative analytical techniques in business surroundings aimed at raising their level of creativity and innovation in marketing.
Students who choose this module will develop critical thinking skills and reduce the impact of irrational and subjective reasoning, biases, fallacies, and heuristics in making inferences and decisions. The creative analytical techniques that students acquire in this module will contribute to the overall skillset for their future employment through recognising or developing arguments, using evidence in support of those arguments, drawing reasoned conclusions, and using information to solve business problems in a new and constructive way. The skills students develop will also serve them across all academic disciplines and in everyday life.
