Module overview:
This module introduces students to the fundamentals of video production and editing with the aim to convey a message and a story through flexible and focused workflow. The module continues from the previously acquired knowledge and expands on the meaning of how editing changes raw footage and transforms the final media content.
Students will learn about:
• Basic editing theory.
• Editing techniques and workflow flexibility.
• Video and audio transitions.
• Video and audio effects.
• Animate video points both on video footage and other elements.
• Placing and mixing sound.
• Editing short forms.
• Color image correction and layer manipulation.
• Encoding of various formats.
The module is taught through integration of theory, know-how and individual practical learning and problem solving. The module assessment is based on analysis and critical review within given examples during the homework as well as on practical homework, and on individual student projects. Individual student project is based on a video editing within different genres and final application.
This module is not a part of the core of the study, but it is actively taking students through video editing and finalisation of the media form. Skills learnt in this module will contribute significantly to other subsequent video modules.
