Module title:

Basics of animation

Module overview:

The objective of this module is to enable students to learn the:
• basic principles of animation and applying them to simple characters
• creating their own animated solutions

This module gives students a strong foundation in animation theory as well as develops fundamental animation knowledge and skills which are built upon in later modules. This module is focused on basic animation principles and techniques. This module relates to the program as a vital core for understanding 3D modelling in creative industries.

It is important for students to take this module in order to practice the application of basic animation principles and techniques through the construction of basic animations. During the module of the module, students create different projects ranging from jumping ball and pendulum, to the walking cycle animation creation. The projects serve as a basis for animation problem solving and as an introduction to more complex animation problems such as character animation. The knowledge and skills presented in this module are a part of the foundation a professional CG artist needs to practice animation in today’s CG environment.
