Istraživačka grupa proučava inženjerske principe, metode, infrastrukture i alate za distribuirane i mobilne softverske sustave, koji su često veliki i složeni.

Područja istraživanja na koje se fokusira uključuju: osmišljavanje stvarnih ciljeva za takve sustave, kvalitetu usluga koje pružaju i ograničenja na takvim sustavima; preciznu specifikacija strukture i ponašanja sustava te razvoj sustava prema definiranim specifikacijama; aktivnosti potrebne kako bi se razvili sustavi upravljanja kvalitetom pri razvoju sustava; evoluciju takvih sustava tijekom vremena i kroz napredak tehnologija na kojima su bazirani sustavi. Također, bavi se procesima, metodama i alatima za razvoj softversko intenzivnih sustava na ekonomičan i primjeren način.
