Associate Professor Srđan Skok

Srđan Skok was born in Zagreb, where he attended primary and secondary school. He enrolled at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Zagreb in 1991, where he graduated in the field of Electrical Power Engineering, with an emphasis on scientific work, with excellent results. In 2000 he received his master's degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, and four years later he received his doctorate from the same faculty by defending his doctoral dissertation entitled "Selectivity of protection in DC distribution systems". After being elected to the scientific title of research associate in the scientific field of technical sciences - field of electrical engineering, in 2011 he was elected to the scientific title of senior research associate in the scientific field of technical sciences - field of electrical engineering. For 12 years he worked at the Department of High Voltage and Energy, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb as a research fellow on the scientific project MZT "Planning and management of medium-sized power systems", and since 2002 on the scientific project MZT "Planning and management of electricity system market conditions ". From 2008 to 2017 he worked at the Department of Power Engineering, Technical Faculty of the University of Rijeka in the scientific-teaching title and in the position of assistant professor, and from 2013 in the scientific-teaching title and in the position of associate professor. From 2017 until today, he has been an external associate and lecturer in the subjects "Protection and automation of the electric power system" and "Intelligent electric power systems". After a year at the Electrical Engineering Department, Department of Electrical Engineering at the Technical Polytechnic of Zagreb, in teaching position and in the position of university professor, from 2018 until today he works in the Electrical Engineering Department, University of the North, in teaching position and in the position of associate professor. From September 2020 until today, he has been working at the University College Algebra, as an associate professor. Srđan Skok participated in teaching at the graduate and postgraduate level at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, where he was also a co-leader in the preparation of 7 final theses. At the Technical Faculty of the University of Rijeka, Srđan Skok is a lecturer in the subjects "Marine Electrical Engineering", "Electrical Installations", "Protection and Automation of Electrical Installations", "Power System Management" and "Electrical Installations". He has mentored more than 150 graduate and final theses, and has been a commentator to one student who has successfully completed a postgraduate doctoral degree. He is a mentor to 4 students and a commentator to 1 postgraduate doctoral student. In co-authorship with students, he has published more than 10 papers in scientific journals and at scientific conferences. Srđan Skok is the leader of the student project Riteh E-mobil (2011-2016) at the Technical Faculty in Rijeka. Through work with assistants and students, he established a new Laboratory for supervision, protection and management of the power system, and introduced new laboratory exercises at the Technical Faculty in Rijeka. So far, he has published and co-authored 25 scientific papers in journals represented in CC (Current Contents), SCI (Science Citation Index), SCI - Expanded, and papers indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC ), and a total of more than 100 scientific and professional papers (books, articles in journals and conferences and professional papers) relevant to the field of research. In 2002, he published, as an independent author, books used as manuals in the subject "Electrical Plants" and "Electric Power Plants". As a scholarship holder of the National Foundation for Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Croatia, Srđan Skok participated in the PostDoc program, and accordingly, he attended postdoctoral training in the USA, Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the leader of two domestic scientific projects funded by the National Foundation for Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Electric Power Industry. He has been an invited lecturer at more than 10 international and domestic scientific conferences and he is a reviewer of dozens of scientific articles, of which 40 are articles in reputable international scientific journals in the field of science. He is a member of the IEEE and HRO CIGRE associations, the Scientific Council for Oil and Gas Economy and Energy of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a member of the international working groups CIGRE: B5.14. "Wide Area Protection and Control Technologies", C2.18 "Wide Area Monitoring Systems - Support for Control Room Applications", CIGRE: B5.62 "Life Cycle Testing of Synchrophasor Based Systems used for Protection, Monitoring and Control" and CIGRE: B5 .71 “Protection, Automation and Control Systems Communication Requirements for Inter-Substation and Wide Area Applications”.
