Course overview

This module introduces students to basics of conceptual and applied 2D art for computer games, drawing tools and ways of thinking.

This module is not core to Game Development subspecialisation, but a part of an optional module group that specializes in technical arts knowledge and skills. Five more modules in the same group follow this module. Skills learnt in this module will contribute significantly to being able to follow subsequent modules and will contribute significantly to students’ development as professionals in respecting fields.

Students will learn:
• About visual premises and visual solutions.
• About conceptual visual presentations.
• About composition of the environment with the characters.
• How to use quick drawing techniques in selected drawing tool.

The module is taught in 2D drawing tool. The module assessment is based on solving a series of smaller practical tasks in 2D drawing tool, on writing a seminar and on individual student projects. In these projects, students must create 2D conceptual art elements and 2D game assets.
