Course objectives

The object of the course is to teach students the importance of a good game scenario that acts as a vital game mechanism. Looking at a few historical and modern games, students will be asked to be able to evaluate and interpret different styles of writing stories in order to determine the theme and procedures for developing their own game scenarios. Students will be familiar with traditional and modern writing scenarios and will learn how to define the character, story and structure for creating a convincing concept of the game.


Introduction to Creating Game Scenarios. Formal elements of the game. Dramatic elements of the game and narrative design. Level design and properties of living beings for the purpose of writing convincing stories. Writing a computer game concept for different types of games and a potential player. Checking the functionality of scenarios, completeness and balance. Ease, playability and quality assurance.
