Course objectives

Understanding wireless technology based on the standalone and managed wireless access points and their role in modern computer networks as well as its implementation in order to connect employees with the rest of the computer network.

Content

The course primarily deals with wireless technologies used in complex IT systems in medium and large companies with an extensive infrastructure and a large number of employees. Topics covered during this course are related to the WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), and include specifics related to wireless technology and devices used for the implementation of wireless networks, as well as setting restrictions on design, planning, implementation and testing of WLAN solutions.

Minimal learning outcomes

  • Critically compare the existing standards and technologies used for implementation of wireless networks
  • Implement standalone wireless devices in order to connect the computer to an existing network infrastructure.
  • Implement managed wireless devices in order to connect the computer to an existing network infrastructure
  • Detect and remove the causes of problems in working with wireless technologies using available tools to monitor, measure and analyze traffic on a wireless computer network.

  • Provide arguments for and against the usage of standalone wireless devices in order to connect the computer to the network infrastructure
