From 7th to 9th October 2025, the NuGamers Project partners met in Stockholm, Sweden, for an inspiring, hands-on training hosted by Futuregames. The event marked a major step in testing and refining the NuGamers Toolkit — a set of creative, practical tools designed to help VET providers make their learning environments more gender-inclusive and inspiring for girls interested in gaming and digital careers.
Putting the Toolkit into Action
Over three engaging days, trainers, students, and project partners joined forces to test the activities included in the Toolkit — from reflection-based exercises to creative workshops that challenge stereotypes and foster confidence.
The sessions included:
• Brave Space (XAMK) – setting the stage for open dialogue and inclusion.
• Gamebadge (Futuregames) – a gamified system to showcase digital achievements and soft skills.
• Bias Card Game (Sineglossa) – playfully uncovering unconscious bias and discussing gender representation.
• Soft Skills in Action (Algebra Bernays University) – strengthening collaboration, empathy, and communication.
• Show Your Power: Build Your Digital Presence (All Digital) – helping participants boost their professional visibility online.
Each session concluded with a Mad–Sad–Glad reflection to gather feedback and emotions, ensuring the activities are both meaningful and enjoyable.
What Made Participants “Glad”
The feedback revealed a vibrant, positive atmosphere. Participants appreciated the mix of creativity, collaboration, and fun:
“It was fun to make a game in 40 minutes.”
“The students were very active and creative.”
“Good difference between the activities.”
“Nice to be in an environment where students and adults learn together.”
“I felt more relaxed and confident after the public speaking exercises.”
“The schedule was good — not too many activities, but several different ones.”
There was also appreciation for the informal touches — fika breaks, laughter, and even cats found their way into participants’ highlights.
What’s Next
The feedback collected in Stockholm is now being used by partners to fine-tune the Toolkit before its official release. By the end of 2025, all educational materials, guidelines, and game-based learning tools will be freely available to educators and trainers across Europe.
Until then, you can explore the project’s mission, early materials, and partner stories on the NuGamers website (https://nugamers.eu/) — and follow how we’re reimagining the future of game education, making it inclusive, playful, and empowering for all.
